Hi! Mari here, pronounced “Mah-ree.”

I’m originally from Tokyo, Japan, and moved to the states when I was six years old. I grew up in the northern Chicago suburbs, and caught the photo bug during high school. It wasn’t until college, though, that I started pursuing it further. After college, I moved to NYC and the rest is history.

I want to take the intimidation away from reflection so that we can fiercely advocate for our truths. In photographing, I believe in connecting with my subjects, creating a warm, open environment for creativity and most of all, to have fun.

My work has been seen on: New York Times, Time Out New York, BroadwayWorld, Playbill, Rolling Stones India, and on headshot submissions in audition rooms around all around New York and Chicago.
